Welcome
This year's Great Smoky Mountain Book Fair hosts more variety,
more literature, and more personalities than ever before.
Come meet the more than 50 authors, hear readings, and stock
up for Christmas with autographed books for readers of all
interests and ages. A tax-deductible entry fee of $5 per adult
will be charged (no charge for children accompanied by an
adult), with proceeds going to the Library Building Fund.
Twenty percent of book sales will also be donated to the Building
Fund. Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased
in advance at City Lights, the Friends of the Library Bookstore,
the Sylva Library, and the Chamber of Commerce.
This year's event includes a one-woman performance of Lee
Smith’s On Agate Hill by Barbara Bates Smith (accompanied
by musician Jeff Sebens) on the evening preceding the Book
Fair. The performance will be held in the Asbury Room of the
Sylva First United Methodist Church on Friday, November 9th.
A tax-deductible $25 ticket pays for entrance to the performance
and heavy hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 p.m. The curtain call
will be at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds from ticket sales go to
the Library Building Fund.
The Book Fair is sponsored by City Lights Bookstore, Friends
of the Jackson County Main Library, and the WCU Honors College.
The fair will take place at the First United Methodist Church
on Jackson Street. Call City Lights at 828-586-9499 for more
information.
